WYRED: Playtest Rough Draft #1

WYRED is a cyberpunk style role-playing game based on the WYRM System, the same rules you find in Warrior, Rogue & Mage and Resolute, Adventurer & Genius.

Matter of fact, I admit I copied and pasted a lot of the core mechanics (like combat) from those sources. Like those games, I plan on releasing WYRED under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 3.0 license.

Just consider it a silly home brewed project.

Playtest Rough Draft #1
I’ve decided to go ahead and release a playtest rough draft that I’ll be using to run a short adventure this weekend to put the system on the ropes. There’s a lot of room for expansion here; I’m wanting to add an obligatory GM section with not only sample stock NPC’s and advancement guide lines, but also some good run downs on different campaign setting ideas and maybe a very broad sample city to springboard off of.

I also feel like adding more gear, want to re-write a bit of the Nethacking section, and of course more augmentations.

I’m totally open to feedback and suggestions here! If you want to have a glimpse at the work in progress, you can download it here:

I’ve also added a forum to this site, and in particular added a board for discussion and game development of WYRED. Feel free to join (if you don’t want to make a new account, you can sign in using Facebook, Twitter or other social networking platforms.) You can get there by clicking on the forums link on the sidebar to the right.

I can’t promise great writing or professional layout….but I think this could actually be a really fun game for those who are into cyberpunk gaming.

  1. Looking good. And your post on the playtest looks good too – I have another world that’s on the cusp of Cyberpunkishness that I may have to use your rules for when they’re done. 🙂 Great work!
